2 Mokolo includes two adjoining properties; our original bed and breakfast from which the establishment derives its name, and the Annex at 18 which has lovingly been converted into a spacious 4-star guest house. The bed and breakfast named 2 Mokolo embraces a Highveld ‘koppie’, set amid a rambling array of indigenous trees and plants. Bird life is found in profusion here: A breeding pair of Cape Glossy Starlings protect their turf from the marauding Burchells’ Coucal, while the leisurely preening of the doves and sparrows is disturbed by a Little Sparrowhawk occasionally swooping in for the kill. Sliding open your private glass door leads you directly into the peaceful garden, where you can breathe deeply under a natural canopy of wild olive and white stinkwood. Just 50 metres from our front gates in a quiet, well-established neighbourhood you’ll find the Outspan Bird Sanctuary. Here, a wander down a tributary of the Braamfontein Spruit will present you with an even greater variety of bird life. The Annex at 18 is surrounded by giant palms, wooden decks and louvered wooden screens and may just lead you to believe that you are in a resort. After a day out, slide open the glass doors to your bedroom and bathroom and relax on your own wooden deck in absolute privacy. Or you can slide open your louvered screen and spill out onto the green lawn under the clear blue Highveld sky and camphor trees. If you're in the mood, relax at the poolside, or on the large covered patio. If work must be done (sigh) we also have a function or meeting room. It's totally flexible, with modular furniture configuration and glass folding doors that open to the spacious pool area. Whether it’s a formal evening dinner you wish to host, a product launch for your company or an off-site strategy session for your management team, we will help coordinate and cater the event. Always stay connected with our 10mbps broadband WiFi, which is accessible throughout 2 Mokolo. DOWNLOAD DIRECTIONS |

Sandra de Witt and Graham Hickson are your hosts. Sandy’s creative background in the competitive business of advertising has given her a critical eye for perfection and a drive for delivery (not to mention the desire for a quieter life!). Nature and bird-watching have long been her refuge and she has more than 20 years of local and international birding experience under her belt. Graham is Sandy’s stalwart support. When not in the kitchen baking sourdough breads and making preserves and jams, he’s to be found on film sets at the crack of dawn working as an Assistant Director, or even directing on occasion. He’s worked with many a movie star in his time, but won’t inflict his stories on you (unless you insist). He also dabbles in writing and photography. Temba Brown at Front of House and Ranga Nyamapfeni in Housekeeping, and David Ramaru as Groundsman back Sandy and Graham in this venture, like ninjas at the ready. |
